ABOUT THE ARTIST

Painting flowers is for me the perfect medium to express subtle feelings without loosing their delicate flow.

I learned how to paint with Shing Chi Tong, an unorthodox humble Chinese Master, during my seven year residency in Hong Kong. Before we even discussed art, my lessons were an infusion of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Tea ceremonies and Taoist meditations. My teacher stressed that painting on its own is like a tree without roots and that harmony of body, mind and spirit is the brush of the true artist. Needless to say that it took me time and effort before I could effortlessly let go of any preconceived ideas I had about making art. One day my teacher commented on my work with these words: “Ha! Finally I can see the flowers in your mind.” I knew I was on the right track even though what I was painting was not very Chinese. When I expressed my concerns to him, he smiled and nonchalantly said, ” why you want to be Chinese? We are already so many.” God bless him for his wisdom and patience! He is truly a remarkable man.

A year later, in 1998, I had my first floral exhibition in Hong Kong at the Via Masaccio Gallery and my work was well received. In 1999, I moved to New York City to pursue my passion for acting and film directing. I was left with no time and space to paint until I moved to Amsterdam in 2004. There I resumed painting and in August 2005 I had a solo exhibition of my freshly painted flowers at Diva’s Gallery.

Presently my original artwork its sold through galleries and shops in the USA and Europe.
